Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Atlanta, GA, Kandace Layne brings a unique blend of cultural influences to her work. With Caribbean roots and a childhood shaped by Rastafarianism and later Islam, her artistic approach is deeply spiritual, symbolic, and rooted in cultural storytelling.
With over a decade of experience, Kandace began her tattoo journey at 17 years old, completing a two-year apprenticeship before working in various Atlanta tattoo shops. In September 2024, she joined Light Work Tattoo, a studio in Sandy Springs, GA, where she works alongside fellow artist and friend Wes Holland.
Specializing in ornamental and tribal-inspired designs, Kandace draws influence from African, Indian, and folk art traditions worldwide, crafting bold yet intricate tattoos that harmonize with the body’s natural flow. She believes that tattoos hold spiritual power, offering optional ceremonial tattoo sessions for those seeking a deeper, ritualistic experience. Beyond tattooing, Kandace also facilitates ceremonies for other life events, helping individuals mark transitions, honor personal milestones, and connect with ancestral or spiritual energies.
Kandace works best with open-minded clients who resonate with her artistic style and approach. Whether you're getting your first tattoo or your fiftieth, she ensures a thoughtful and welcoming experience. She often freehands directly onto the body, allowing for organic designs tailored to each client, while also offering pre-drawn designs and Flash Tattoo Events.
