Aftercare instructions

Congratulations on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing and longevity of your tattoo. Please follow these steps carefully:

First 24 Hours: Wearing the Bandage

  • Your tattoo is covered with Recovery Derm or Saniderm to protect it from bacteria and irritation.
  • Leave the bandage on overnight—do not remove it prematurely.

Removing the Bandage

  • Remove the bandage in the shower to allow steam to loosen the adhesive, making it easier to peel off.
  • Gently pull the bandage off under running water to avoid discomfort.

Cleaning Your Tattoo (Twice Daily)

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
  • Gently wash your tattoo twice daily using antibacterial, unscented soap such as Dove or Dial.
  • Use lukewarm water and your fingertips (no washcloths or sponges) to cleanse the area.
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub.

Moisturizing Your Tattoo (Twice Daily)

  • After washing, apply a thin layer of Hustle Butter, Lubriderm, or Aveeno Plain Unscented Lotion to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Avoid over-moisturizing; your tattoo should not feel wet or greasy.

What to Avoid During Healing

🚫 No Gym or Intense Workouts for 1-2 Weeks – Sweating and friction can irritate your tattoo and introduce bacteria.
🚫 No Direct Sunlight – Keep your tattoo covered to prevent fading and irritation.
🚫 No Swimming or Soaking – Avoid pools, hot tubs, bathtubs, lakes, and oceans until your tattoo is fully healed. Showers are fine.
🚫 No Scratching or Picking – If your tattoo itches, lightly pat it. Do not peel or scratch scabs.

Additional Tips

✔ Wear loose, breathable clothing over your tattoo to prevent irritation.
✔ Avoid sleeping directly on your tattoo
✔ Healing time varies, but most tattoos take 4-6 weeks to fully heal.
